Five years of loyalty destroyed in one moment of truth!!!

Dear Tales,

I’m still in shock, and honestly, I don’t even know what to do right now. Since your platform doesn’t allow us to use our real names, you can call me Kwadwo.

Anita and I have been together since our Senior High School days. We met during an inter-house sports competition, and from that moment, we became inseparable. Because of our shared religious values, we made a decision to abstain from sex and focus on building a meaningful, respectful relationship. Our love for each other was so strong that our classmates nicknamed us “Romeo and Juliet.”

We both came from very humble backgrounds. After completing SHS, I had good grades, but unfortunately, I couldn’t continue my education because my parents simply couldn’t afford it. Determined to change my situation, I traveled to the Gulf Qatar, to be precise where I started working as a security guard in search of a better future.

Anita, on the other hand, was fortunate. A man she referred to as her “uncle” supported her education, helping her pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. Things seemed to be falling into place for her until something terrible happened.

One afternoon while I was at work, Anita kept calling my phone repeatedly. Because of my job, I’m not allowed to take calls while on duty, but her persistence worried me. I quickly excused myself to the washroom to return her call. The moment she picked up, she was crying uncontrollably. I kept asking her what was wrong.

Through tears, she told me she had gone to her “uncle’s” house to collect money for her school fees. He had always told her that whenever she needed help, she should come to him. But this time was different. He demanded something in return he tried to force her to sleep with him.

She refused and immediately left his house.

Later, when I asked her if he was truly her uncle, she hesitated before admitting he wasn’t just a long-time family friend they called “uncle.” That moment changed everything for me. I told her never to go back to him again or answer his calls. From that point on, I took full responsibility for supporting her.

From her second year in nursing school, I provided everything she needed her fees, her upkeep, even buying her a new iPhone. I did it out of love and commitment. Anita kept her promise, cut him off completely, and focused on her studies.

We were deeply connected. I believed I knew everything about her, and I thought she knew everything about me too.

After spending two and a half years in Qatar, I was finally granted a 30-day holiday. On my way home, I asked her what she wanted me to bring, and she requested a laptop for her studies. I bought her a brand-new HP laptop. When I arrived, we were both excited to see each other again. She visited me, met my family, and my mother was genuinely happy to see her.

But then, something happened that I can’t forget.

One Saturday afternoon, she came to visit me again. While we were together, her phone kept vibrating continuously call after call but she ignored them. I didn’t question it at first. Eventually, she answered one call. It was her female friend, Naomi, asking why she hadn’t been picking up. Anita casually replied, “Oh, I’m busy, I’ll call you back.” That moment stayed with me. Something didn’t feel right.

The next day, she came over again with her laptop to finish an assignment. As we talked, the same thing happened her phone kept receiving multiple calls, but she ignored all of them. I couldn’t ignore the feeling anymore. It wasn’t like her to hide things from me.

I knew it wasn’t right, but I decided to find out the truth for myself. When she finished her work, she said she wanted to take a nap. That was when I picked up her phone.

What I found broke me.

I was shaking as I went through it. Anita was not the person I thought she was. For five and a half years, we had abstained from sex in our relationship something I respected deeply. But the reality I saw on her phone was completely different. It wasn’t just one person. There were multiple men more than four. The main caller was a man based in the United States, saved in her phone as “Big Bro” with love emojis. I realized that the day she ignored all those calls, it was him trying to reach her. Naomi had even called her to prompt her to answer him.

As I read their messages, my heart sank. She had told him she was at her “uncle’s” place doing housework, which is why she couldn’t pick up his calls.

I couldn’t believe it.

There were pictures of them together swimming, spending time, clearly more than just friends whenever he visited Ghana.

Out of shock, I opened her chat with Naomi. What I saw there made everything even worse. Naomi was advising her on pills to take before and after sex, even suggesting products to maintain appearances and continue deceiving these men.

At that moment, I was overwhelmed with anger and pain. Part of me wanted to react immediately, but I held myself back. Instead, I quietly saved the evidence I needed.

When she woke up from her nap, I pretended to be asleep, as if nothing had happened. She checked her phone, saw the missed calls, and quickly went to the bathroom to return them. Afterward, she came back, woke me up, and said she was leaving. She even asked me to walk her out, but I told her I wasn’t feeling well. And just like that, she left while I remained there, completely shattered. Now I am left with the laptop I bought for her, a painful reminder of everything I believed was real. At this point, I don’t even feel like returning it to her. I am confused, hurt, and unsure of what step to take next.

Please, I need your advice within the next 48 hours on what I should do next?
